Daily Cheque Processing in Clearing Houses -
CH-iCCS
is a separated but integrated applications to
the main iCCS
that provides facility for clearing cheques in
national, regional or local Cheque Clearing
Houses.
CH-iCCS can be configure to operate with or without image
capture and storage, independently for each member bank
cheque stream.

Clearing
with the physical bodies of the cheques |

If
the local clearing rules define that the
physical bodies of the cheques have to be
presented in order to be paid then
CH-iCCS delivers: |

|
To
the paying member the sorted physical bodies of
the cheques together with the debit advice. |
|
|
To
the payee member the credit advice. |
|
|
If
CH-iCCS is
configure to operate with image capture then a
file with the captured cheque images can be
delivered to the payee member and as an option
another file with the captured cheque images can
be delivered to the paying member.

|
Clearing
with the cheques in electronic form and
submission of the cheque's physical bodies |
|
If
the local clearing rules define that the
clearing can be realized with the cheques in
electronic form then
CH-iCCS delivers: |

To
the paying member a file with the captured
cheque images together with the debit advice. |
|
|
To
the payee member the sorted physical bodies of
the cheques together with the credit
advice. |
|
|
For
clearing with the cheques in electronic form
CH-iCCS is
configure to operate with image capture. |
|
|
As
an option
CH-iCCS can
deliver to the payee member a file with the
captured cheque images and keep the actual
physical bodies of cheques for storage.

|
Clearing
with the cheques in electronic form and
submission of the cheques in electronic
form |
|
If
the local rules define that the clearing can be
realized with the cheques in electronic form and
the submission of cheques is permitted in
electronic form also then
CH-iCCS delivers: |

To
the paying member a file with the processed
cheque images together with the debit advice. |
|
|
To
the payee member the credit advice. |
|
|
CH-iCCS is
configure to operate with image capture
and the processing is implemented only on
cheques in electronic form. |
|
|
Under
this type of processing the physical bodies of
the cheque remain stored at the payee
site.

Clearing
calculations |

At
the end of the daily processing,
CH-iCCS calculates: |

The
total credit advices for each member and
the total credit advices for all members. |

The
total debit advices for each member and
the total debit advices for all members. |

The
credit-to-debit balance of the daily
processing |
|
|
|
|
Zero
balance clearing |
|
 |
CH-iCCS operates
under the principle of "zero
balance" processing. |
|
 |
At the end of the daily processing the
credit-to-debit balance has to be zero |
|
 |
In
any other case
CH-iCCS
supports
a gradient fall-back procedure in order for the
error to be located and corrected.
